Caveman – You gather, I hunt!

The American Rob Becker wrote CAVEMAN, the most successful one-man show in the history of Broadway. After CAVEMAN was acclaimed by an audience of millions in the United States, the modern caveman has gone on to enjoy worldwide success. Since the summer of 2000, this cult comedy has been delighting everyone who is in a relationship, has been in one, or would like to be in one.

CAVEMAN takes a witty look at the eternal relationship struggle between men and women. Tom meets his Stone Age ancestor and learns the seemingly simple truth: men are hunters, women are gatherers. A fact that human evolution has so far been unable to change. CAVEMAN offers a unique perspective on the relationship between men and women.

In the ‘magical underwear circle’, Tom – the likeable hero navigating the complexities of relationships – meets his Stone Age ancestor, who shares with him a piece of wisdom dating back millennia: men are hunters and women are gatherers. A fact that human evolution has been unable to change to this day. What the average man has always suspected, Tom now knows first-hand, and he asks himself: ‘Why don’t we simply regard women and men as completely different cultures? With different languages, different behaviours and different origins?’ Spurred on by this realisation, Tom analyses the alien universe of the gatherers: this mysterious world of best friends, shopping and sex. With an immense urge to share his thoughts, dry humour and an ironic eye, Tom also observes the hunter’s way of life. He reveals the fulfilment that ‘sitting around without talking’ can bring, why men feel compelled to flick through the TV channels, and that a conversation amongst hunters begins and ends with the words ‘Let’s go down to the cellar and drill some stuff’.
